These are designs & apparel mockups I’ve been working on on & off. Some I’ve even been incorporating into my Spoonflower shop. I worked as an apparel designer for 7 years creating repeat patterns, screen prints, embroidery, etc. Then I designed patterns and sublimation designs for giftware and accessories for a combined 10 years. I really enjoy designing for textiles and apparel. Designing for specific materials or printing processes is a thrilling challenge that I feel ties back into my fiber arts hobbies and printmaking days.
Pattern Designs Shop
I opened a Spoonflower shop in September 2024 to sell my repeat pattern designs. Customers can select a design and then choose which fabric or wallpaper they would like it printed on. It’s printed on demand and I receive a royalty on purchases. I’ve been adding new patterns weekly, sometimes daily, so it’s been a great motivator to be productive and I’ve already made a few sales! I’ve also been pretty active in the design challenges they offer which helps with promotion and growing following.
Pattern Testing
I had a test swatch made and I was a bit shocked at how large the scale of some of the prints are. If they are being used for sheets or curtains the size is great but for smaller items I’m wondering how they will translate? I think I’ve been designing for small accessories too long?? I may start offering multiple sizes for the patterns -as well as colorways?
